Vāda

वादे वादे जायते तत्त्वबोधः

Vāde vāde jāyate tattvabodhaḥ — through repeated argument, knowledge of truth arises.

State the position you're critiquing so accurately your opponent would recognize it.

Vāda — both seeking truth, both accept correction
Jalpa — defending a position
Vitaṇḍā — demolition without counter-thesis (valid if honest)

Use Sanskrit terms, define if needed. Logic and śāstra, not status. Anubhava counts. "I don't know" is valid.
